Arnand and Phil

cold weather and ice are perfect conditions for some of the DE school exercises especially the skidpad circle where you steer the car with the throttle. they usually don't water the skidpad enough so it's harder to learn and harder on the tires.

It was definitely a lot of fun: Mosport was covered in snow! Bummer, I put my summer tires back on last week. I kept spinning the car doing 360 degrees. Phil and Clive were doing the same... Well worth it though and I would recommend the PCA introductory class to anyone. Now I am hooked for a DE!

Ha! 360's are for pussies! I did a couple of 720's! PSM off, summer tires, ice, snow and suddenly my C4S is a merry go round! Some of the cones are also permanently scared for life. Had lots of fun though and I got the bug for another DE as well. See some of you on Tuesday night at the PCA social at the "rennlist" table.

Yeah most guys hit a few cones, me included .. I had the opportunity to rototill the grass inside the skidpad circle, good job I was last as I left mud all over the track .. the smoke billowing out of my car at the end of the day seamed to be temporary...

Clive,
I just thought of this: maybe it was some of the mud burning on your exhaust? But your off-road foray was pretty entertaining to watch!

Well I managed a good rooster tail of mud ... and my car is not very happy with me right now . oh and I thought of something else, what i originally thought was fuel starvation while on the skid pad , I have now reconsidered. i think I was hitting the rev limiter in second gear, The car would just not spin out, and hugged the skidpad the instructor kept telling me to give it more gas , and I did. I was flying ( at least it seamed that way ) , then he pulled the E brake on me and off I went to cultivate the grass at full throtle... my poor car ... so I pulled off and it was definitely smoke pouring out ,as it stunk. All the way home it was fine, I just think all that WOT was just chucking oil out of my aleady present leaks on to the exchangers. Once the snow clears i need to do an assesment of my car

Clive, I'll bet a million bucks your car is happier with you now than it's ever been! Remember, these cars were meant to be driven this way! Skid pad is a lot of fun, and most definitely a great way to get used to the feeling of losing control, and how to regain it (in fact I think it should be a mandatory part of kids getting their licenses) but just wait till you get out onto the track. Trust me, it's all downhill from here, but it's one hell of a ride.

Why would he pulled the E break on you?
