I avoid the 401 at all costs if I drive across the city...always 407 where possible. I've noticed that folks have caught on that driving up to Muskoka is better by taking Lakeridge (Hwy23) north to Sunderland, then Brechin, onto Washago then onto Hwy 11 to Gravenhurst instead of Hwy 400. Its become a lot busier in recent years...

just adding perspective. I get the feeling that the posters on this forum think that canada is uniquely bad in ways such as taxes, political leadership ,traffic, etc whereas i feel that the whole world is similarly suffering

Good point. Canada is only 17th worst in terms of traffic but is around 27th worst in economic and health care performance versus the top 30 OECD countries which does speak to the worst taxes and regulation from terrible political leadership. Yup we score purdy good on traffic relative to everything else.

Really? You're quoting Wikipedia? Better life index is very subjective and designed to fluff high tax/regulation, low freedom regimes with crap economies. GDP per capita is the objective wealth measure which counts. No interest in the debate and how does it compare to the merry band of idiots in Ottawa? What is relevant is the US economy has experienced mid to high teen growth since 2015/2020 while Canada has actually declined particularly on a per capita basis. Unless mom and dad are buying millennials houses, they have a much better chance of affording one in the US.
