While I agree it likely won't deter the true folks....it may deter some. I think it's positive that they are trying to pull whatever levers possible. This one is probably lower hanging fruit to achieve than others.

However, doesn't seem like anybody wants to actually review increasing jail time/penalties for the crime.

it just feels like Canada has gone so down hill in the past 12-18 months and continues to do so.

I learned that it's quite easy to get an E-2 Visa for the US, to setup a business there. Barriers that were there before have been reduced. Sounds very appealing to move business and self to the US.

they need an addition to the new law. if you are caught driving while on an auto theft prohibition it is automatic jail time.
