Interestingly, the US is worse than us. UK 220 thefts per 100000 people, us 262 and a the US 300.

If they are just shot once they entered the house the problem would naturally solve itself very quickly.

I just love simplistic solutions to complicated problems. In movies the bad guys are always so hesitant to shoot the main characters. Wonder if that’s true in real life

"Leaders accountable?" Good luck with that as we are still living in medieval times. Example, who voted for MPs to get a full gold plated pension after a six year term? Nobody I know did.
