Hello folks
After a Porsche nut friend suggested me to join here , I registered to be a member here. I don’t have a Porsche yet, but I am hoping that this site will lead me to the right 993 that I am looking for.

What things I need to watch out for in a 993? If some seasoned members give me few points, it would be much appreciated. Thanks
J.

first off you are a user not a member.
second you should post this question on the 993 forum.
third: What type of 993 are you looking for and what are you going to use it for? and what is your budget? These cars have jumped in price in recent years (especially state side) but Canadians aren't paying the same prices up here only asking those prices. Not many will be on the market come fall and winter as guys want to get the max dollar.

Thanks for the response. I am looking for a coupe , manual shift 993 C2. It would be for driving on the weekend for pleasure, of course during the summer. Not for track.

The more you read on the net the more scared you will be to buy any car. My suggestion is to talk to someone that works on these and get their opinion and then make sure to get a good pre purchase inspection when time comes buying one. Reading the internet will just scare the crap out of you because there is a boat load of misinformation mixed with good ones and unless you know how to filter through them, forget about it.

From what I read, the 993 is the most reliable of the air cooled engines. Aside from that , i like the look of it more than the previous models.

993s are great cars. not sure about what misinformation is out there.
I suggest a leakdown and ppi. They often need top end rebuild around 100 k miles. other than that they are pretty reliable. they rust around the front and rear windshield, costly repair.
