Bill,
Too bad to hear. PCA rules suck some times.

I does seem very strange.

Add Big brakes to D 993 and you need to weight 3000+

But,

Add brakes and .2L more displacement and you get to weight only 2800?

Seems stupid and is stupid, but those are the rules. Short of changing them you are screwed.

I love to change the rules to allow a prepared class bump for otherwise stock class cars that have been weight reduced. ie a stock class car, but 200-300 lbs under weight.

That would mean my 944-spec (131 rwhp & 2450 lbs) would not have to run in GT4 with cars with twice the hp and 400 lbs less weight.

.... but thems the rules!

It may not make sense from the standpoint that M758 points out, but the stock classes mean "a place for EVERY porsche." Thus you get a few funny lapses with models of the same generation.

Bill
just slap 3.8L stickers on the car and sign up for Robeling BLING BLING road.
They will never bother you or pump your engine to see if you have a 3.8.

Then go get 'em next year and install a 4.0Liter CMW monster engine and have 380HP and they wont check you. LOL.
but seriuosly-
What it all means.........is that we all have to get Factory CUP cars as its much more sane and logical in terms of saving money, time, reliability, level playing field, still have a street quality Porsche to drive, AIR JACKS and best of all TURN KEY racing!

Roebling Road I am registering as a CS not RSCS with a 3.6 @ 2800#'s. My new beaver splitter will help me blend in so I am not noticed by the National Hall monitors. I also plan on staying in the back of the pack until race time ;>

If I can tell a 3.6 from a 3.8 by looking at it I am sure the hall monitors can. I am racing one of the few 993 club sports built with a US 282hp motor, solid mounts, euro 50/21, big brakes and RS flywheel.

Hey Bill;

Leave the nose piece black. It goes with the multi-colored theme you've already started!!!

And as for staying in "the back of the pack until race time", I never knew a Marine to show patience like that???

The splitter will stay black as its life expectancy is short. Last year there was only one GT2S car he did not finish. Hmmmmm.... I will be a moving chicane running with that group, good experience. I could win (by default) my first GT2S race. I will try the C stock smoke and mirrors first. The beaver teeth will be in the splitter.

PCA Scrutes don't read this stuff do they? Naaaaaaaaa...

So I couldn't catch you with a 3.6 and now I have to try and catch you with a 3.8...hmmm, talk about sexual dysfunction

I wonder if we can get a letter campaign to keep Bill at 3.6...I'm sure the rest of the C class wouldn't mind one bit. Sorry, Bill, but I can help but laugh...most guys who are cheatin' are worried that the scruts will pump their engines and find a larger than stated displacement...you sweatin' that they'll find a smaller one

Bill:

I hate to hear it, but it is stories like that, a well as my own stories that have made me move to SCCA and only race Sebring and Roebling for PCA.

If you ever want to hear more horror stories about what goes on, please email me offline. I just got tried of fighting with them, its a non win situation.

I believe to make PCA more fair, their should be an advisory board put in place that are racers. This board would hear problems, especially ones that dela in protest and come up with a solution.

The advisory board is a good idea Jim. PCA wants to discourage changing your car to another model but I am not sure why. NASA has a simple rule: HP/weight/tires That determines your class.

See you at Roebling.

Well, Not all NASA regions use those rules, BUT Nasa in general does seem very much more receptive to changes.

PCA Club Racing does not seem to care. Personally I'd like to see a PCA allow a 10% weight reduction from things like interior removal and non-essential parts, lexan, fiberglass. Then allow these otherwise stock cars to complete in the next class up as a prepared mod. 10% amounts to 200 to 350 lbs for most cars and even encompases some of the factory lightweights that are already one class up! (Take 10% from a D 993 and you are pretty close to the 993RSCS weight in C).

I am not holding my breath however.

By the way, I really do feel your pain. I feel like my car has a magnet that keeps the scrutineers close to me at all times. I don't think they like me too much...If you think about, you and I both know people have cheated their butts off but have been super friendly to the scrutineers and thus no one said anything. We finally saw justice last year when he eventually got caught.

Keep your chin up. We'll have a great race at Roebling.

Good point. Their efforts should be directed at keeping big reds painted black and a hopped up 3.8s out of "D".

By the way, I e mailed PCA Prez Tom, National Head Scrute Donna and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. looking for dispensation. I will let you know if they cut me some slack. If I am not at Roebling they are holding me hostage!
