Lap from my 991 Cup at Road America this weekend.
This car is a lot of fun to drive around Road America! Much harder to get a decent lap time than the last car I drove there (458 GT3), but more rewarding.

Any reason for the short shift at 8200 to 8300rpm. Which in the old cup car was peak HP.
Isnt the redline of the new 991s, 8900?
Just curious if it was engine preservation or something else.

OP, I think you accidentally posted the FF version. Please slow down the video to normal speed and repost. Thanks.
Holy Smokes. I think I almost lost bladder control watching that video. What is your top speed into T1?

There's no short shifting, the rev limiter kicks in after the 2nd red shift light comes on.

Mike was P3 in Practice 2 with a 2:14.2, Q7 and P10 in Race 1, P5 in Race 2. Way to go!

That was a nice lap. Looking very comfortable there now! (no matter the car)
How did things go for the race?

Looks like a lot of fun. Yeah Porsche Cups are harder to drive than any other GT3 (speedwise) racecar. It feels as if if you have to "wrestle" the car a lot more rather than applying finesse and precision (which seemed to be for me what was required in a 458, Audi R8 or AMG)
Mike, how different it feels from a 997.2 Cup. Brakes easier to modulate?

I haven't driven a 997.2 since 2013 so my comparison might be a little rusty -- but I think the 991.1 Cup brakes are a little more difficult to use than the 997.2 (or .1) brakes. To me, it feels like they have a narrower window for maximum effect and the lockup sensation isn't as good. Of course some of that may be the brake pads -- must use OEM pads, which I think are PFC. The braking zones are a little shorter, but it's taken me half the season to come to terms with the brakes -- but that was also partly due to losing technique driving the GT3 cars with ABS I think! :-)
Overall it feels very different to drive than the 997.2 (it's actually pretty comfortable to sit in and drive, unlike the 997 which I don't think was a concern for the engineers who built it), but still one of those cars that if you can drive quickly and properly, you can drive anything fast.
Hope to see you at the track soon!
