Personally I wouldn't do it for a few reasons:
1. It is really dirty in that section of the track and have seen cars kicking up plumes of dust when they go through it. What are your tires going to be like for the next couple of turns until they are scrubbed clean?
2. I don't think it is an advantage except, perhaps, at the start of the race when you are going really slow. You can't track out normally at speed so it would be a compromise.
3. I think there is a greater risk of an accident when someone pops back onto the track from an unexpected area. There is trouble enough avoiding people coming out of the pits during an enduro but how many people would be expecting something like that during a sprint race.
There was a guy who used it last year at the start of the sprint race and I had no notion that it was a legal move at the time. I thought someone had gone off!
They should ban its use for next year - it would be the smart safe thing to do.

He tried the red line and there was not enough grip
At the start it's a huge advantage unless your on the front row, if your back in the pack the stack up happens

I think it's good to have that pavement there strictly as an escape route. I practiced it a few weeks ago in a DE just in case I'd need it, strictly for safety. Using it for advantage would be very unsportsmanlike and should be penalized.

Just kidding, it was legal, but has potential for a bad outcome. I support reconsidering that for the future.

Drifting
That video shows just how much room there is, plenty, to run 3 wide. Certainly does not demonstrate a reason to make it illegal.
I am not saying to keep it legal or not.
Make it illegal, I won't do it.

When my car was broken, I used that opening to enter the chicane, - was thankful it was there as it was a safe place to park out of the way
Great event, and if you passed me on the front straight when my car was hobbled, thanks for not hitting me. Car was a handful to keep straight. See pic below of left rear.
T12 was fun with that tire going down.

This is certainly NOT Clarke's problem. As a matter of fact, IMO, he get's extra credit for seeing an opportunity to take advantage, WITHOUT contact ensuing.
But the scrut's, stewards and competitors would all be advantaged if BOTH the drivers briefing and defined track limits were unequivocal...

That's how you closed the gap and passed me in T1 at the start of the Enduro. Nothing like getting kicked in the taint before T2 Clarke did you have car issues/tire fade towards the end of the Enduro?
