Corvette with brake failure ends up on a public road. Is this a common thing?

OK scary but why not let out the clutch and let motor try to slow car some? He has clutch in the whole time.

exactly! you need to do two quick downshifts and that would have slowed him down A LOT! i had this happen at Laguna, turn 2, not as fast as turn 7 at sebring, but i was able to make the turn, albeit wide, and survive. he could have made the 2nd right past the turn 7 entrance very easily if he did that.

I think he did a great job though. love the part where he chooses to go behind the truck, not in front of it.

That car is probably hitting about 130+ coming in to the brake zone for a 55 mph turn. He may have been able to turn right onto the escape / old hairpin but that turn is even slower than T7 and he likely would have had to cut across the grass to make it. I do know a driver that went straight through under the chain link fence in his 911 many years back before the tire barriers were there in front of the fence. His car stopped on the airport road but the fence did a number on his paint job.

Amazed that at least one of the tyres didn't blow or break part of the suspension when he hit the gutter head on too.

Just think if it had been the original hairpin, not the safety pin!

Tristan is a solid wheel man. Yes a solid chunk of luck but there is a lot of being a smart driver in there as well.

It's a TA4 Camaro fwiw.

Was originally not gonna be circulated but Tristan was talked into it.

Yikes. The guy that wrote the article should have done some better research. Gets the car wrong and makes jokes.

Sebring is my home track and they showed the video on the local news. My wife saw it and now she's more worried about the safety of this hobby of mine. Now she wants me to get racing seats, harness and HANS device. Darn - lol.

Better to crash through those gates than the pearly gates. Notice the blue Sparco sign he drove by right at the end of the video. It almost made it look like a Sparco safety equipment commercial....
