Three Wheelin'
Used my new to me Evo 4 once at the end of the season and loved it. I wired the rpm feed from a pre existing shift light which was wired direct from the coil. RPMs were reading double. I set the RPM factor in the AIM setup menu to 2, but the RPMs were still 2-400 or so RPMS off from the tach. Is my tach off a bit?
Can I piggyback a wire from this feed to the RPM feed that Brent/PCA wants?
Am I better off getting it from OBD1 port?
Car is a 95 968.

Yes and yes. That feed is best. Nothing on OBD-I, IIRC. At least nothing that is useful to the EVO4.
Yes, you will want to use the direct wire and the 996 CAN protocol. Not much info but good RPM, Throttle Position and Brake On/Off, as well as Water Temp from that connection, IIRC.

I think you will need a tach adapter if you are pulling directly from the coil. At least that's what I needed for my IQ3. We will be using your OBD1 port but if you have good AIM data, you can do what Gary was asking and we'll just get a copy of your data. Unless Brake boosting is involved then all bets are off.

No, no reason for a tach adapter for the EVO4. There are two inputs, one 4-50V for a dedicated square wave on-off signal, like that from an ECU or an MSD tach output and the other, 150-400V, which is for the low side of the coil. There are some other, fancier options if the signal is too noisy, but this works 98% of the time.
Easy-peasy.
