it just seems like a growing issue with increasing number of cars in that cup car groups. as these 997.2s and 991s and 997.1s and 996 cups trickle down in price (i think good 997.1 are like mid 70s?), more guys are buying them than some of the cars in the lower groupings, stock cars, etc.
putting aside the prudence of that or sticking to a slower car, it seems this is going to continue to be an issue.
70 cars on track at VIR is a lot. new pavement or otherwise.
i went to i think 3,4 races last year. every single one in that cup car group was loaded up with crashes black flags, etc.
aint no fun waiting 2 hours between sessions to get on track. mount up, haul to grid. sit and wait. get excited, and go out and do 3 laps before the inevitable black or red flags.
i just think club racing is going to have to deal with this at some point. i think raising the prices 2, 300bucks an having 30% fewer cars but same revenue kind of thing is one step, other than certain people being upset as the fields close out.

And the BMW group has 13. Nothing against the BMW guys but it seems like there has to be a better way.

isn't the standard 25 cars per track mile? I would imagine that works once the cars are spread out but not so good in the early laps!

That was me. Sorry Red group.

Car didn't like right handers once it got to speed. Look's like the front right lower broke going into the esses at speed. Found a short cut back to the pits in the back of the ambulance afterwards.

Hopefully just sheet metal. Going to go through it this week and see how quick we can get it back out there. Long way to go for a lap and half.

Matt glad you were ok! The car certainly took quite a hit.

We had an interesting Enduro today. We only had 26 cars make it to the finish line. At the end we had a double yellow and the lead Flying Lizard Cayman did not understand that he was the lead so we had to come into the pits to get sorted out with the Pace car. Turns out that the Cayman had not pitted yet and ended up pitting in the next lap which was in last 10 min of the race so he was DQ'd. I fell back after overdriving my tires and then lost my splitter going two off up the Esses which also put my steering wheel at off center. Car ran straight so I continued. Other than that, it was a great race!

It was a great weekend for me, as a provisional racer... until black sprint race #2. In lap 9, Carl Tallardy in the blue fab car hit me in the uphill esses and punted me off track. No apology. Nothing. Many of the other faster cars had already lapped those of us toward the back without a problem. If this doesn't warrant a 13/13, then I don't see the need for any rules. At the end of the vid clip.

Well that is not a racing incident and not a rub out, so if no 13 is issued, you better write some serious letters and include video clip.

Big bummer - sorry to see that happen to anyone.

I had a great time. The enduro was fun and everyone played nice during some aggressive driving. Thanks for my first PCA race weekend. Look forward to seeing you guys out there again soon.
