Don't forget that you work for the membership, not the other way around. Yes, you are a volunteer. Thanks. But that doesn't give you a special right to be dismissive or tell the membership they can race somewhere else if they don't like what they see or experience. If you don't get that, maybe you shouldn't be a volunteer.....

Isn't elitism great?

Thanks for the response Bruce. Yes, I am aware of how the system works. I've just seen things that tell me it's not working as well as it could.
I'm not interested in racing somewhere else, I'm interested in moving our club forward, as I know you are. You've been an great advocate of the program and contributed more than just about anyone. We have a great program, one of the best, and with some additional improvements it will only be stronger.

I think volunteers are great, indispensable, and deserve our appreciation and thanks. I have volunteered myself in several organizations. But I never felt like it gave me dispensation to tell members they should feel free to go to other organizations if they did not like what was happening in their current one. That's just over the top!

PCA has a lot of great programs from beginners to club racing and it's the 900 lb gorilla in terms of member # and resources, but I've noticed the culture of the club whether it's at the local, zone or National level is that of resistance or unwillingness to change from the way things have always been done. Obviously things have worked for a long time, but it doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.
And a hearty "thank you" to all the volunteers because they certainly deserve it!

In So Cal we're blessed with many tracks in close proximity and many racing organizations including POC, NASA, PRC, Pirelli Cup, and Cal Club(SCCA). I've raced with all of them and have experience and perspective to comment when I see what should be a great organization running on 5 cylinders. I've personally been affected by ridiculous decisions on multiple occasions and witnessed the arrogance of the bureaucratic administration that PCA has become.
Doug I comment not to diminish PCA, but with Manny, Bruce, Brian, and Steward active on these forums, it's my hope that they "hear" some of what's being discussed. As for involvement, I'd love to show them how to operate a user-friendly race organization. Where's my desk?....

Why do you think I haven't raced with PCA in 4 years Doug? My comments have been both complaints and suggestions and always righteous.

You think:
A. Something is broken
B. Your the guy to show them how to fix it.
Now that's what I call arrogance
