Rick's Cayman S track car build
#228
Rick, your car is absolutely beautiful--glad I could finally see it in the flesh....and 2.09s are the stuff dreams are made of for some of us Ya done good...I had lotsa fun at Cups/Saucers with some really good conversation and 5 hours of track time!
Niagara PCA is at the Glen June 18-19; I'll be there and it's always a good time. Didn't check their site to see if it's full or not but might be worth a look.
Gotta get ready for Mosport Wednesday.....

Thank you Gary (and Bill)
Nice work on your best ever time. I'd love to have been in your car for that one!
I should check on Niagara as instructors can usually get in. Might do group 52 instead.

Isn't it!
I drove Benoit's Cayman, which he modeled after Ricks, and these cars are bloody amazing. Makes me seriously question where I am going next.
It's no wonder that everyone is building Cayman race cars.

Aw, shucks - I just got lucky.
Well, that and a lot of research, consulting with people in the know, learning to trust the right folks, using the right shop, and treating the shop team like the professionals they are really helped.
I spoke with one of the flaggers as the end of the day and he was telling me how great the car looked in the esses, especially how flat it cornered. Considering how challenged I am by those esses, that was great to hear. I also had Chris Rouleau ride with me, which was a treat. He and Bob are great guys (son/father) and generous with their knowledge of Tremblant.
I continue to be amazed how lucky I am to have this car. And pretty cost effective, considering what I got (uh oh, did I use 'cost effective' and 'race car' in the same sentence?).
I really appreciate the enthusiasm of so many of you for this car. It is part of the fun of owning it.
Nice to know its not just a pretty car!
And thank you, Dwane and Francois! I loved Dwane's comment that he 'couldn't believe how fast we were going over the hill (turn 2).' Me neither...

The 1-2-3 sequence is ridiculously fast in this car at Tremblant.
A well driven cup car was just ahead of us and only marginal quicker each lap.
Great car and even greater guy! Congrats Rick and thanks for the fun ride!
3.8 and you'll be scaring the bejesus outta everyone!

I was toying with trying to chase down the Cup car, but thought better of it with a passenger (either that or I couldn't quite keep up).
There'll be no 3.8 in my budget (unless we have a car enhancement opportunity).
And besides, its faster than I am as is. But I'm getting there. Good friend Jonathan K was faster than me, despite having not been to Tremblant in years. He has a very similiar 2012 R, and is going to do the cockpit gut/cage/fire suppression, etc. soon. He has intake and exhaust improvements so there's still opportunity with this engine.
Thanks again for letting me take you out in it and for your very nice compliments.
