Default How Much Ballast Do You Add to Make Min Wt?

I am looking for data on how much ballast people add to make minimum weight?

Here is my information for a 95 993 G-Class car. 230# driver plus gear, factory spare and full size battery, all glass and window motors in the car, prepared according to PCA stock class rules with interior, sun roof motor, A/C and heat removed, full cage, 10# fire system, 3/4 tank of gas, 120-140#balast depending on wether I fill the 24 qt Cool shirt cooler to make minimum weight of 3170# after a 30 minute enduro.

I have 5 lead bricks and one lead ***... think the bricks are 25-30#? If I were to build another car I would leave the entire front impact bumper area alone (use an aftermarket valance for front oil cooler), keep a big battery, and keep the spare in..

I would also leave the A/C in, Bela is patenting a helmet cooler using the factory AC!

Man you've seen me, if I ever get physically fit (no driver ballast), I need to carry a passenger which is why I am in favor of keeping the passenger seat.

That's one short Enduro.

Last year I was weighed after a sprint at Lime rock and was 50 over. Half tank of fuel.

Weighed at NJMP with it just under half a tank and was 60 under.

I can only do short enduros. Thanks for catching that. It is obviously Sprint. I am not sure I can make weight after an enduro.

Was the difference in scale or did you change something? I take it that you do not have ballast. is the car stripped?

I had to run 230 pounds last time I had it on the scales. Next year, it'll be somewhere near the same, as I've taken out more weight, but they've offset it with a 50 pound reduction. Mine is pretty gutted. Lexan windshield and hatch, fiberglass front end and dash. Gutted tons of wiring. No extras up front (i.e. headlight system, fans, wiring). Lot of work, but I wouldn't change it, since the ballast gives me a very good weight distribution (48.5/51.5 front/rear, and 49.7/50.3 left/right).

I suspect it is a SP classed car without a passenger seat. Do you have an enforced ballast box? Do you have any concerns about safely carrying that much ballast? I do not want to carry that much added weight, bolted to the floor.

Car weighs 2577 with a 1/2 tank and no me. Interior is removed. My ballast is my coolsuit ice chest. It had to be the scales.

Yes, SP3, no seat. The lead is in big sheets, bolted to the seat structure part of the floor. I have some iron weights behind it to allow easy tweaking up to about 30#
