Default best pump fuel?

My car is tuned to run on pump fuel, which I love. But, it has come to my attention, on a long straightaway, that I'm not getting all the power I should. I'm wondering if fuel makes all that much difference, and if so, what's best? Sunoco? Down at NJMP, I'm fueling from WAWA, which I noticed is only 92 octane with 10% ethanol. Probably crap.

Open to suggestions and the infinite knowledge of R-Listers.

I would guess its more a function of ethanol content and/or regional blend than brand.

do you have a good source of non-ethanol gas in your area?

not thinking just brand, but octane. Who's got the highest?
And do those octane boosters do anything?

mby change the state to NJ... for something closer to nyc ?

around here you can find AV gas where they run airboats....

have to be some offshore powerboat running somewhere around you...

Not a fan of Wawa "premium". I like BP or Sunoco from more upscale neighborhoods. The only premium they sell in Millville is to guys from the track.

Don't the sell 93 at the track? Could be the difference in getting a cool mug or not getting a cool mug.

The only reason to go higher than 92 octane is if you are adding boost or changing your timing. Octane in itself does not add power.

That is a very cool resource, but I live and race in NJ!
What's up with that? Is ethanol required, or just not mapped?

At NJMP only use Riggins. That's the fuel at track as well.

Yup. If your car is tuned to run premium pump gas, more octane won't do squat except keep the cylinder head cool on very hot days. Ethanol sucks, that is the problem, Frank.

Is there anything to be done about ethanol if you don't live near one of those nice gas stations that carry gas without ethanol? How bad is it truly for an engine and what, if anything, can one can do to mitigate its effects? From a please-don't-kill-my-engine perspective, not getting max hp on a straight, although that's interesting, too.

Actually despite what people think, E85 is magic juice for turbo cars. In fact the Aussie V8s which of course are n/a cars also run on E85.

Frank, if you are allowed to use E85 and have access to it, then you should explore this in a turbo car.
You will need to make a few minor changes but not nearly as many or drastic as the naysayers would have you believe. Lots of misinformation out there.

my engine is a NA, not a Turbo.
It's tuned to 100 octane, and I noticed some break up the other day, winding down the straight on a very hot day.
I also noticed cars ahead of me pulling away, not something I enjoy.
