I love this show. I like to see people racing each other. BUt why not just call it track challenge and have more different kinds of matchups? Maybe use a multi round tournament ladder?

The show is idiotic in presentation, but it is a show about road racing. The racing part seems real. Not very many shows about road racing. It's better than nothing even if it is just barely better.

Agreed. If they got rid of the idiotic host and the redneck shtick, they might actually have something. Amateurs going at it wheel to wheel? That's something I want to watch.

No. That might have been another episode, but a guy with a european car gets to the final and instead of racing an owner of a muscle car, the show puts NASCAR racer Kenny Wallace in a highly modified Trans Am or something similar. Not only did the car have about 200 more horses, but a pro driver behind the wheel. Not exactly a fair fight.

I just heard a rumor that todd reid (rennlister reidspeed) was on the show yesterday. Any details? Todd, any comments? When will it air again? I guess you could have "gone both ways".. ford probenstein or the strung out honda.

hey guys. yeah, that was fairly spectacular. unfortunately that was the next to last race; I needed to do one more to win the $10k. I'm 99% sure I'd have beaten whoever they wanted to put up against me in the final (and I'm sure they would have made me race the Bandit TransAm). the motor that was in my Honda was a K20A2 straight out of a wrecked RSX-S, with the 6 speed trans. I had installed it in 2004 and raced it with NASA in the Honda Challenge in H1 class; it was internally all stock and never apart; extremely good to me and totally reliable. I ran it that way (210 whp) until 2007 when I retired the car from Honda Challenge and started doing Time Attacks with it (installed a small Greddy street turbo and tuned it on E85 making 330 whp). motor was still totally stock internally and never apart. have run it since 2007 with no major breakdowns (other than axles, and a broken rear hub, a melted wire in the harness, a turbo seal rebuild, and a leaky valve cover gasket). I guess it finally decided after about 10k track miles (and a good percentage of them on boost) that it had had enough! she blow'd up fairly spectacularly, and in front of millions of viewers. ![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

How are they picking the cars out of the line ? Is this a DE event or something. When they are walking down the line there are a lot of cars waiting to get on the track.

Lighten up, guys. So OK, it's not F1. It's maybe 20% racing and 80% mass-market entertainment. The all-important ratings would probably be even worse if it was actual racing without the redneck schtick and all the BS. Personally I enjoy watching especially since it is our home track. Also the races with Joe and Todd were actually pretty good.

hey guys. yeah, boy do I wish it had had another 3 laps in it.... for the TV show, the rules stated any street tire would do, as long as they were 200 treadwear or more. typically when I time attack it, I run it in 'Limited FWD' class, which requires a treaded R comp tire. I run Nitto NT01s in 225-45-15 size. for the TV show, I had on shaved 5/32 Dunlop Direzza Star Specs in 205-50-15 size (they were all I could find on short notice; I didn't know I was gonna be on the show til less than 3 weeks before they shot it!). it was very touchy to drive on the narrow street tires -- it had been 12 years since the last time I'd driven it on anything other than R comps!. had to be extremely light touch on the brakes (fronts would lock right up) and it had a lot of understeer; much more than on the wider R comps. every time I went out and did another race round, I was getting better and more accustomed to it. wish it had those last three laps in it!
