Default Warm water in a Cool Shirt?

Alright, maybe I'm a flippin idiot but I'm contemplating running warm water through my Cool Shirt system at Road Atlanta. I get the not too hot or the motor will burn up part but I could use the water to make weight anyway. I was thinking if the water is warm it might work to keep my warm as my heater isn't great. Has anybody done this with success (or catastraphic failure)?

OK you are officially a flipping idiot.

You would work up a sweat racing in a blizzard. You heart rate is up, you are in an enclosed space and a tight suit and helmet. You will get hot. Hell, runners strip down to nearly nothing when doing any real mileage in the winter. Thy cover up only to avoid skin damage.

I ran at Roebling Road a few weeks back and it was about 40 degrees at race time. I still put ice in my cool suit and used it during the sprint races. Turned it on after about 4-5 laps.

You will not be cold in the car, it will be in the 50's most of the weekend while you are on the track. Even if it is only 45 degrees on Sunday you will be in the car for 90 minutes and will want to cool off.

Does this count as the official start of a smack talk thread?

I was running at Carolinas Motorsports Park once and 1st session was freezing, so I left my sweatshirt on under my drivers suit. When I came in it was completely soaked with sweat. Bad idea. At least you can turn off the water pump on the cool suit.

Could be useful while sitting in the hotpits before the race. Won't be needed after the first lap.

If you worried about weight, maybe you should add ballast or fill the cool suit container with water without turning the pump on......

I almost always run my cool shirt. Didn't at Roebling.

Road Atlanta is brutally physical and kicks a driver's ***. It is wicked on the body and you will be sore after the weekend. You should expect to be sweating within a few laps. I will put ice in my cooler and turn it on after the first session if not in the first session and run it the rest of the day.

Be careful. You will get overheated, lose focus and may crash and hurt yourself and others.

Was just at NJMSP for some early season driving this past weekend and was sweating with temps in the mid 40's all day long. Road Atlanta is much more work than anything at NJMSP.

I've gotta say that MarkM captures the correct answer in the correct way.

Sorry!
