Sorry, Joseph, looks like I am coaching elsewhere that weekend. Road America is fantastic, definitely in my top 5.

Local resources include the Master, "Duck" Waddle (seriously, that's his name), thirty-plus year Skip Barber instructor and Road America legend.

Also, Gregg Borland of ArmsUp Motorsports is a great local resource. http://www.armsupmotorsports.com/contact.php

Bart Wolf, of Elkhart Lake, is also. http://wolfmotorsport.com/

+1 for Duck Waddle.

I was trackchair for the Chicago PCA events at RA for over 10 years, and Duck taught our novice groups every year. Hope his still there.

Had Duck a while back at Skippy and he was great. Borland is great as well, I'd definitely give him a call.

Duck is "Instructor Emeritus" for Road America. Call the admin office and they can get you information for him.

Hard to believe, but I had not been to RA before May 2007. I went, took a ride with Duck (we raced together in Fiat-Abarth powered sports racers, he in a Bobsy, me in a Beach) putting out cones for the weekend and it was the most fascinating 45 minutes I ever spent. His global and local knowledge of RA is intense and extensive, plus he's funny as hell. Oh yes, I won the race in a forty-car field....

"You draw 'em a picture, and they eat the crayons..." Duck Waddle, commenting on the creative ways some people interpret driving instruction.

I think his best comment to me was as I went through Canada slippin and slidin, he said, "you looked like a pig on ice skates, what were you doin?"

Met Duck last year on Novice Day. Great man. I think he told us that he had over 2,500 laps on RA.

Some years ago. Skippy winged cars in a lapping day using a shortened version of the track. After a few laps I took my first run at the kink taking it flat. Of course I chose that lap to also early apex by a few feet. Lifted as gently as I could but got a great tank slapper going and did manage to save it after about 4 corrections.

After the session Duck says "I saw that death wiggle. Told you not to lift at the kink. I guess you believe me now."

how so?

and for the record, my home course for a few years was the Gateway roval, which I actually enjoyed (some HATED it, I liked the high speeds and short lap times). but I wouldn't put it on my list of favorite tracks.
