The Riesentöter DE has just been cancelled:

It is with great regret that I inform you that the 2012 RTR Watkins Glen Event set for July 27-29 has been CANCELLED. The reason for the cancellation is due to track repairs that must be made prior to the NASCAR event. Here is an excerpt from the email we received from the track officials at 3:11pm EST today:

"I regret to inform you that due to critical track repairs that need to be completed before the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, we are forced to cancel your track rental on July 27-29. I understand that this is very short notice and I truly wish the circumstances were otherwise. I know this is upsetting after all the work you put into this event but please understand that it is unavoidable. "

That's above my pay grade. With my luck the Pocono repaving will screw with the RTR dates there....

Recall that the track was torn up between 9 and 10 (?) during the Rolex race.

What actually happened:

I believe all the Spec-trons were so fast, they melted the asphalt at The Clash. Then the flat sixes went out and left broken engine and transmission pieces embedded in the tar.

As a result WGI has to resurface the entire track

That sucks. Supposed to go up with Trackmasters on the 25-26. Haven't gotten any notifications yet.

"Bad news. The July 25/26 event has been canceled by WGI officials. They indicated to Bill by e-mail that they were doing so to make track repairs in preparation for the upcoming NASCAR event. We have no details, nor do we yet know what other groups have been affected. Bill, et al, will be contacting our students and open trackers with the news. We are hopeful that everybody will get the word in time.

Kojote was supposed to be their July 23/24...any one know if this has been canceled?

As unfortunate as this is, we can all be thankful that we have at least one track in the north east that takes great care of their facility and provides us the privelage to use it.

I reached out to Francesco, one of the organizers, last night and have not heard back, nor have I received any emails from them regarding this. A week or so ago they were saying they still had room in the event.

Bummer, I'm signed up for the Kojote event also.....hope to hear something soon. Maybe they're not starting the repairs until after this event? If that's the case, how bad is the track?

Just heard back from Francesco--the Kojote event is indeed cancelled.

The Track was talking about the repaving during the Club race and again during the Z1 48hrs. I guess they have set a start date.
