Who's going to reveal the secret path to avoid the T1 squeeze at the start?

Lightning is worse than T-Bolt in that way.

That's the one. What's next? The secret of the "gators"?

I've seen the blue car in front of you before take T1 that way. He's also just gone across the curbs to pass. Funny guy

I like Gary's approach better.

Good action in that vid, Streak. I can tell you that Mansfield didn't used to go into T1 that deep until he watched my in-car a few times. That right, Joe?

It's one thing to jump the curbing and use the pit lane to escape carnage, but in my opinion it is uncool and unsafe to use it as a passing opportunity. NASA is now black-flagging guys who jump the curbing at turn 1 at the start. I would suggest PCA do the same... if you jump the gator, then you should sacrifce your position or get black flagged. Nuff said.

Agreed. I did slot in behind the black 911 so I didn't improve my position. The camera is a little clearer in hindsight. I could not see anything past the blue car and when he dove off I assumed he was avoiding something so I went with him. The black car does seem to check up (maybe not a check but certainly sloooow compared to what was in front of him and around him) in front of the blue car. Good decision? Maybe not but in the heat of it you do what you do. No one got hurt in the making of this video

Do they usually run this race with the chicane or without?

Thanks

The video is from last years GA support race.

Frank, I've never gone that deep in turn 1 nor do I do it now, especially inside the curbing. I was following Dan(Green 964) closely into turn 1 and the black 911 slowed a lot more than I expected and instead of locking up I went where there was space, just so happened it was right and was at the beginning of the curbing. Was it was the right decision? That could debated but it was at the time with limited vision, wanting to avoid hitting the back of the car in front of me and it was at beginning of the race.

It was fun running with Streak during that race and if my memeory serves me right it was a pretty warm day.

It was a hoot! And warm is the understatement of the year
