David Murray Track Days at NJMP - anyone here going?
Just curious, I hate to drink alone..
Running the chicane, but David says they may switch over the second day to the non-chicane layout.

Also, what differential can I expect between the chicane and no-chicane setup (in seconds)?

It was designed for motorcycles and people who were concerned about lifting (off the ground, i.e. flying) at the crest before the brake zone for Turn 4.
Between 2.5-3 seconds for the average Club driver.
Less for a pro, but not much less.

Peter,
I have a little different delta on that. Measuring from T2 entry to braking zone of T5 it comes up as a bit more than 3.5 secs on average. (That's working with a variety of cars and drivers). I take into consideration the overbraking entering T4 with no chicane which gains back a bit. You can gain a bit on track out of T2 also since you have time to collect the car before the kink.

Gary can't you just compare support race times to the regular club race times?
I think it effects our cars in a bigger way.

I guess by the end of day 1 I can do an honest comparison to my PB at last years Club Race. Paolo PM'd me and seems to feel it's about 2.5 seconds also. Hopefully Day 2 will open it up and I can get a real feel for the track.

Maybe I'm spoiled (I laid out the curbs there and set a lap record there), but I LOVE the original course. The chicane is contrived...

Maybe working with 1:14-1:24 cars is reflected in the low side of my SWAG delta (2.1-2.6 seconds) and the 1:24-1:34 cars are reflected in the high delta (2.6-3.4 seconds).
Using LapSim and other synthetic benchmarks, it's still right around the original estimate.
Thanks for the info!
