Trying to mess with the draft of the car behind is "uncool and unsafe"?
In what universe???
Maybe at a DE, but racing you throw the anchor and spare change out the window until you realize your slowing yourself down too much and need to giveway.
BTW that was some nice driving. Disposing of RSRs in a Cup was pretty impressive.

In the universe where "only one defensive move" is allowed. Weaving down a straightaway is grounds for the chrome horn.
Not in that situation where it's obviously not a blocking move but an attempt to disrupt his drafting off you. Very legal, you're simply making the closing car fight thru the same fresh air as you. Hell I thought he waited too long to start moving around....
PS: The guy driving the black Cup was no slouch either...
I'll watch the video again with these comments in mind.
OK so I watched it again too and he did block to the right on the straight after Sean moved right first. That consititues a block IMHO. He moved back left almost immediately after the stalled white car on the right came into view over a rise. That's just survival. His initial moves onto the back straight, and his final move left on the front straight are better examples of getting someone out of your draft-especailly that last move....
Beyond the superior driving skills, I noted a bit of etiquette, too. Several nice waves and gestures to folks who let him by without much of a fuss. We are all friends out there, right?

Fine. But that was a completely legal move and not dangerous in any way. The driver did not weave back and forth trying to block.
His (slight) weaving maneuvers were to get Sean out of his draft. Again, completely fine....there is nothing in this video showing anything sketchy by the driver in the black car.

Truly impressive drive. Nothing like what I did in a V4 there last year, although I did get some nice waves from the fast guys when I helped them with a pass that did not slow either of us. A lesson learned in RTR DE, actually.
After watching the 2nd time, the weaving wasn't as blatant as I recalled. Still not cool or as safe as holding your line & being predictable IMO. Plus, it never works! Rule books vary & obviously I don't know what rules applied in this race. This would be frowned upon in the club racing that I do, including the Spec Miata class where drafting is huge.

Scott
Scott I agree his move to the right was completely legal. He only moved back quickly to the left to avoid the stalled car. His move on the front straight at the very end was more indicative of trying to get someone out of your air....
