Default Race Craft, Sean Edwards Shows How It's Done

I don't normally watch too many driving videos, but this one kept me riveted til the end.

Now, it seems to me that his car has more power than the others (??), but still, some pretty darn good driving as far as I can tell.

He is a fantastic driver, and posts here occasionally, IIRC.

That's beautiful! No muss, no fuss. Looks like he's just thinking ALL the time, plotting geometries, early on the gas, getting the shifts done and he KNOWS that place.

Maybe one of the reasons is: "Aside from his real racing, Sean was one of the first professional racing drivers to embrace sim racing as a means of development and training."

Sweet! Thanks for sharing.

To many who followed the spirited discussion here a year or so ago regarding the tactical and strategic use of selective short shifting....notince how & where he uses it to stabilize his car & gain on those ahead of him winding it on in places they shouldn't.

Not sure what is up with that helmet of his, though...

He's also an outstanding coach. I used him 3 or 4 times in the mid-90's. He was 19 or 20 and had just won the FIA European GT3 championship. At Silverstone (his home course) in the wet (he's a definite Regenmeister!) he had my TT dancing to a fairtheewell. Probably helps to have began kart racing well before 10 and to have a father who's a former F1 driver. Good on ya, Sean!

Sorted car and driver. Both extremely calm.

Someone posted some video of him at the ring during the Porsche World Cup in the rain that was mind-blowing. Guy can DRIVE!

Yes I remember that. Made his way up to second and clinched the 2011 championship.

No drama whatsoever, and gets the job done.

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing.

Two things surprised me in this:
- The blatant weaving by the dark colored Porsche at the end of the video.
- That a car at this level would only have the OEM rear view mirror. I consider a big mirror a must, almost in the safety equipment category.

I am fairly sure that was to break the draft....not block a pass attempt. I think that is still legal.....

Same thing in my book. Both equally uncool and unsafe.

I don't know....the moves were subtle and not unsafe or uncool in my book. Then again, I raced motorcycles and saw a lot worse going down the front straight club racing at Thunderhill....

Ok well, I can't figure out how to embed the vid. Maybe it's too big :/

Great vid. Thanks for posting. Don't think his car was more powerful than the other Cups, just better driving.

Agree on both knowing the track and the short shifting. Didn't see that thread you mention Dave but I can't believe people disagree with short shifting in the right situation. He clearly balances the car with this many times which allows him to sit down through corners and come out of them faster which allows him to overtake his competitors.
