I love watching that red quick release strap floating behind him. Shows just how much Gs he's pulling in some corners!

Useless factoid: the strap at 45 degrees from vertical would mean he is pulling 1 g. The strap at 63.4 degrees from vertical would be 2 g's.

Tan of angle equals g's.

I only know about because some guy I raced bikes with told me about it.

I'm smart and feel comfortable discussing technical stuff with geeks, but I am a jock!

Love the viewing from dual cameras. Incredibly composed thru the whole race.
Incredibly neat assortment of cars he's racing with.

Really, why pointless? Sean didn't get around him down the straight like he did other cups earlier in the tape....

IMO his car was actually faster than Edwards'. The draft wasn't helping Edwards much, and then the guy dodged, it really didn't slow Edwards.

Default Amazing Video

Wow, not just the driving but the quality of sound and video was the best.

What a determined drive, he is intense, fast but very calm and smooth!
So who was driving the black Cup?

Very inspiring

Definitely looked like that Black car had a bit more grunt than his. Just racecraft and skill that got him closer.

While on a different level, it reminds me of a video of Leh Keen in a PCA Club Race at the Glen. He started from the back, and disposed of the ENTIRE FIELD of Cup and top level PCA Race talent in 4 laps.
He did things that normal cars and drivers just cannot do at Watkins Glen...

Anyone else seen that video?

I have seen it, it's pretty cool. IIRC he was in an RSR.

Not sure it was an RSR...can you tell from the inside?

If you watch to the end, it's not that he was way faster on the straight, he just doesn't use the brakes all that much, and is faster on the gas (gotta love the wave under yellow)

Not hijacking the thread, but another great video about race craft, setting the car in the right spot in advance so don't lose momentum, understanding the dynamics of the car...oh...and a mountain of talent... (and I love watching this video)

And the shifting... Who needs a sequential anyway.

Had seen this in the past, but can appreciate it even more now that I have driven The Glen. I guess that the perfect line isn't that critical after all. You just drive around the traffic

Bob, I thought I recalled a discussion at the time that is was a 996 RSR. I could be mistaken...

Rather than speculate any further, I asked the person involved. He has an opinion which hopefully he'll share here. Either way, here's the next lap of that race:
