His pre-race interview with Brundle was also a classic ...

Thank God, F1 is in desperate need of some personality and funny sound bytes.

This is awesome. KR and RK would make a great team (and Palindrome).

Kubica is out due to medical complications. Apparently Senna is out and that puts Petrov with Kimi. I'm glad to see him back, he is a hell of a competitor

As much as Kimi is a character, I hate to say this Petu, but I think this is a mistake on Kimi's part. This team is not the same team from earlier this year, let alone the Renault team of a few years ago. Instead, they are run by capital venture guys with little overall knowledge about the ins and outs of F1. The necessity to spend $$ to develop the car as the year goes on was greatly missed.

Given where Kimi has been (McLaren & Ferrari) where winning is everything and to spend an extra $12m on a race to gain .1 or .2 seconds is expected, the Renault team will look at cost analysis charts and figures first and not spend the $$. He's going to be disappointed and frustrated.

Hell if Petrov was frustrated, imagine a former WDC? Let's not forget that Petrov was on podium at the beginning of the year and he barely beat out Heidfeld at the end of the year in points. Heidfeld hasn't raced for Renault in how long?

No worries Pete, I know it and agree with those facts although not that this was a mistake.
This is not run by Renault anymore but a group of investors as you say.
They're not in there to get a championship and lose money by doing so, instead they're in it to make money.
We'll see how it goes, Kimi for sure has an option to end the contract after 2012 if there is a need to do so (Webber and Hamilton's contracts are up after next season).

Yeah but did Renault really have a development driver in the Petrov/Senna duo? With limited testing, knowledgable driver feedback is of paramount importance. I wonder what Kimi really brings to the table in that respect. It is unfortunate that Kubica is out because he really was the complete driver, and it is apparent that they really do miss him.

That only strengths my point. Heidfeld was an experienced, paid driver who was sacked midway through the season to save money. Petrov and Senna both brought money to the table. Kubica would/will not have that type of $$ behind him, but a really good driver. I don't know if Kimi will or not, I thought Kimi might be a better fit over there.

As low as Williams have sank, they still had a balance of experience in Rubens and a paid driver in Maldonado. Now with the Venezuelan congress balking at the $ Maldonado is sponsored by Chavez, it looks like he will lose his seat.

Williams has secured another year with a corporate team sponsor and I hope they can get back on with the program, but Patrick Head just announced he is leaving. Sam Michael left earlier this year and it looks shaky for Williams F1 at this time.

If Kimi's plan is to get the 2nd RBR seat or other seat after 2012 as Finn says, maybe this is his stepping stone.
