If this were a DE video I would say the red 911 should have let you pass. As a race video the red car allways seemed to drive to prevent you from passing. BUT, You need some skills to set up a proper pass. You were often showing your hand by driving to one side of the car you wanted to pass and that made it easier for him to block you. He drove an inferior line just to not let you by. That is not illeagal blocking. You must exploit his driving the inferior line.

 

5:10 - 5:25 is a block and then some, game over.

FYI, your brake/throttle is set up wrong with AIM in the video. Every time your are throttle on, it shows as braking...throttle image is dark.

I agree.
The 911 was being very defensive, but they are racing after all. Just about every time he would take the inside away a the key hole and at the following chicane. It was like clock work. Camera need to work the outside at the chicane to hopefully stay side by side to push the 911 to outside on the left hander.

The BMW just never got the job done.

 

That is no block. he fades right, as the track turns slightly right, then moves left to take the proper line at the brake markers and then dives down to the apex to the right. no blocking move there. sure, he is all over the place. certainly driving narrow, but the camera car should have settled down, got on his bumper for a while and figured out where it was going to go down! again, he had him twice, but didnt get it done. I love racing against guys like this. Its fun!

 

Yeah the 911 was quite predictable. Watching that I felt the BMW should have good deeper on the brakes a few times just to box out the 911 (if it on the outside). However he just seemed to back out alot. Not sure if the 911 had better braking or it if was driver related.

 

Agree. The red 911 made his one move to the outside, and then moved inside, well before turning into the apex. The move to the inside was not his turn in to the apex, as he had to straighten the wheel for a while before making another, separate turn into the apex. Two moves = block in NASA.

That said, I also agree the the camera car could have done much more to set up a pass, as mentioned above. He would repeatedly catch him mid corner, and be forced to back out. If he hung back a bit, took a late apex, and got a good run out of the corner to time the pass at/after trackout, he could have made the red 911 eat his defensive line.

 

I only watched until 5:24, but he should have made the pass stick at 4:20 coming out of Thunder Valley. The 911 did make one heck of an 'over/under' move there though - very good driving imo.

He could have made the pass on the back straight a number of times, but he was glued to the 911's bumper on the inside around the keyhole so he was on the throttle really late. If he had taken the 'qualifying line' through the keyhole and gotten a really good shot out, he could have passed with no problem on the back straight.

 

 

The BWM driver needs to learn how to pass, and the 911 driver should be taken out and shot. If he knew how to drive that car, he would have run away and hid.

 

Both equal in talent with the 911 driver more possessive. I don't believe he was blocking. It just looks that way because the BMW didn't drive the best line to pass, and the 911 took advantage of it. I saw no blue/yellow flag indicating a block.
