Don't bother with Chez Summit- as nice as the ladies there are the food is terrible.

The Cafe is the Rail Side Market. Most excellent food- call ahead for your subs (304) 724 1918 as the place can get busy with the new DHS facility next door. They offer more than sandwiches- I've had breakfast and dinner there a few times too. Have never been disappointed. They just need an an on site alcohol license.

By the time you get there they even may have the new toilets up- the place is looking almost respectable lately.

Toilets are up. Very nice, if only one shower stall. The ladies will really like it.

So true about the Chez Summit ladies! Pleasant people. But then again, then spend every day dealing with people who are insanely happy to be there. They should be pleasant!

Chex Summit is not that bad. The chili is decent and they had some BBQ when I was up there a few weeks ago that was pretty good. Not as good as Dixie Bones (best BBQ I have had outside of Tenessee) but good as far as track food goes.

Listen up... was just going there to tear up this West Virginia track, take a short lunch break for a possum sandwich, and get my West Coast wazoo back closer to The District.

Find that most of the chow in this Virginia area to be pretty average, with the exception of some high-end restaurants and some Maryland sea food spots. Have NO idea why that is exactly.

Found one outstanding spot in Annapolis though for the Love_Ahs of craft brews. Rams Head Tavern downtown on West Street. Compadre of mine that's a professor @ The Boat School turned me one to this place. Freaking outstanding! $2.50 / pints everyday.

Thanks for all the great recommendations around Summit Point. Looking forward to it. I'll keep an eye out for barditches.

That's because you are used to California food, and yea, it's better.

West coast does have great chow. Texas has great chow. Chicago has great chow. New York and up into New England pretty damn edible. What's up with the Washington DC area and points further south? Richmond blows for food and North Carolina, with the exception of Asheville... is about as average as you'll find.

Name one freaking outstanding crab place in Maryland compadre.

Well if you like the Summit Point chili try it with one of their bratwursts. Maybe even two. Wait a half hour*, visit the trailer of someone you don't like and leave them with the cloak of death. They don't have to be there. It lingers for hours.

But if you want good chili come to my house. I use sirloin. And pequin peppers. And no beans.

*Please note that some patrons may not need to wait at all and can offer olfactory delights to their tablemates immediately.

Will back over Annapolis way in a few. Baltimore isn't that far away. The BEST thing about The East. Everything is just a few hours drive away it seems.
