Carlos & Juan...that enduro was a good time!! We had a good race except for being black flagged for speeding in the pit lane...ugh. 55mph...my bad. We ran the whole event without 3rd gear so I was painfully slow in quite a few corners. It was a good learning experience though as I had to take quite a few corners in 4th vs. 3rd. I never thought a turbo car could be a momentum car. Skip shifting out of the hairpin from 2nd to 4th was challenging at times! I missed it a couple times, including the last lap of the enduro.

Juan, going three wide into 17 on the last lap was an experience!! I talked to Greg after the race and neither of us knew it was the last lap. Both of us had radio issues and had no clue it was for the checkers. Greg said I owe him one, said he would have been "fatter" going into 17 if he knew it was the last lap! Great racing by all you guys. Had a fantastic time even with my gearbox challenges. See you in Atlanta.

>>>His oil filter/cooler mount broke....spewed a fair amount of oil mostly down his right side tires. <<<

I was up in the tower when that happened. He's lucky his spin didn't put him in the wall. Looked like an engine expiring big time...

Juan, you and that car were awesome out there. I have a 2.2 liter in my 914, with nowhere near that hp...boy would that be fun! Shocked the heck out of the rest of the upper group guys when this little GT6 car blew them away.

Damn Brent! And I thought it couldn't get any worse (for you) than CMP!

Darren, I figured you had tranny problems after you passed me on the inside at the hairpin and pulling out your car just died out suddenly.

As to T17, I'm glad that Greg's car didn't get any wider I lost momentum when you guys passed on the inside and could not get you guys back.

That was fun, Thanks!

Fair or not, PCA has written that if a driver causes an accident, even if that driver's car has not received any damage, the driver that started the sequence of events will receive a 13.

From an issue of CRN in 2007, I believe, that I took from the thread that Chris Cervelli started when a 996 cup car missed a shift in a non-braking zone, causing Chris to run into the back of the 996 and resulting in an initial, later-reverted 13 for Chris.

https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...t-daytona.html

"The other car is a white 911 two
cars in front of the car you hit. The Steward then shows
you on your video where the white 911's rear wheels emit
a puff of smoke and the car slows radically. The guy
behind him slams on the brakes avoiding contact. The
guy behind the racer hard in the brakes is too close and
jumps left into your path.
This situation started when the white 911 shifted
from 3rd to 2nd rather than 3rd to 4th. This missed shift was
a driver error. He did not zing the motor and quickly
recovered. His missed shift however started a chain
reaction that created an unavoidable situation a few cars
back. If the Steward determined that the car you hit was
most likely going to hit the car in front of him even with
max braking and his swerve was to avoid imminent
contact and the Steward determined you could not avoid
contact he/she would likely find the white 911 at fault in a
13-13 incident.
This situation is somewhat like a car spinning and
having cars hit each other trying to avoid the spinning car.
The spinning car would likely be found at fault even
though he may have not hit anything. The driver who
makes an error that creates an unavoidable incident
behind him is usually at fault."

Fred, really sorry for your 13 and don't mean to point you out but sounds like you dealt with the penalty with true grace, objectivity and sportsmanship. Kudos to you. I'm sure you kicked *** out there.

I really enjoyed the live feed (while I was working).

Bob, I guess I surprised a couple of guys with bigger cars Its the classical power and tire size vs momentum (I have a good power to weight ratio too but the secret is maintaining the momentum).

You have to see us at an HSR race when you get 3 or 4 2 liters turning consistent 27's and 28's on RA1's and no aero for 3 hours straight with the ocassional 26 thrown in.

That said, I'm selling one of them and yes, it is faster than my yellow and purple.......

Glad you guys were on your game in the hairpin. Could have been ugly. Not sure what happened but it took me 3 tries to get her to go into 4th.

17 was fun! I hope someone has some video of that! Glad we all made it through there in one piece.

I was certainly glad to be out there with really talented racers. Great time.

I drove thru the resulting wall of dust, about the most terrifying moment I've ever had on track not knowing what was ahead or who behind would slam me if I broke going into it.

Here's the car that hit the tire wall at the bridge at T5 from the incident. Our team worked on Tom's car thru the evening, it did make the enduro, but it didn't drive right, no surprise.

I lost count of the damaged cars. They just kept coming even thru the enduros. Big carnage all weekend long, I know some even 13'd out for the season.

Hope to be back next year, it was a blast racing against, or behind, the fast guys from other regions.

I have some good video from stary of 2nd red sprint but only about 10 minutes worth as my video card ran out of memory. Also having trouble editing out the pace lap. Not that experienced with video editing, etc.

Its a big file to transmit (500M) but if someone wants to tell me how to send to them and they can post I will send.

Chris,

Sign up on vimeo.com for a free account and post it there, it's free. Wish you had a rear-view camera for that race!
