Default Where are all the 964 cups?

So with all the 6&7 cups flooding the market where are all the 964 cups? Any for sale or are they now on the back side of the collectable curve?

I have a 92 Euro Cup. I bought it from a well respected RL member. Never raced it, only DE's. Interesting history, including emails from the original race team who won the championship with it (RDM Racing).

It is for sale, but I haven't advertised it here on RL.

Lewis,

very nice, thats what I'm talking about, I think these cars with provenance are going to be worth a small fortune in the near future. If you don't mind me asking, what are you asking for it? (pm's ok)...

I just sold my cup replica wish it were the real thing, it's not out the door and I'm already missing it...

Mine 964 cup sits in my garage after being retired from racing earlier this year. I haven't really tried to sell it because I think the market for these cars will continue to go up over the long term.

There were just not that many 964 & 993 cups produced, which is why they are for sale less frequently and command a certain premium. For 964s, there were 297 produced, with maybe 20 that have been imported to the US. There's an additional 45 "USA Cups" which were not raced in the Carrera Cup series. 993 cups have similar numbers (~300), and equally few imported to the US.

I'm not sure how many 996/997 cups were made & brought to the US, but based on the numbers you see at a given PCA race, I'd guess there is ~150 996 cups in the US.

My car at Road Atlanta:

Mine is in my garage, too. I suppose it is for sale for the right price. It was a '92 German Carrera Cup car and raced in the inaugural '93 Supercup where it finished 12th in the season. Its driver, Andreas Fuchs, was Carrera Cup rookie of the year in '91 or '92.

Here's a video compilation where I picked out the '93 Supercup footage where the car is shown. Also in the video are pics from the '93 Porsche Sport book and from March 2006 of the car in Germany before I imported it to the states.

Here I am racing the car at Lime Rock.

My former Cup and I in action at Watkins Glen. It was raced in the 1992 Carrera Cup Series driven by Toni Seiler and then the 1993 Supercup Series by Sandro Angelastri. Currently it resides in the garage of a much more capable driver than I was, Dan Curry.

Everything is for sale for the right price I quess, but I'd love a 6 or 7 cup and can not bring myself to sell the 964. Offer 75k and I'll pass for now. So it might be parked for now. <75 for 996 cup,and 85k for 7 cup. wow!

That's the sense of it I had, the 964 cup has made the transition from a good racecar to a collectors item. Nice that you guys managed to keep them clean while enjoying them on the track. The numbers are way lower than what I've thought, anyone else have one? A while back I could of sworn three or so were up for sale for a long time...what's fair value these days? Looks like the entry fee is north of $75k ^^^

Crazy idea but why dont you get all the 964 cups out of "retirement" and race them? I think the racing is closer than what I have seen locally in the GTC3 and GTC4 classes and more competitive than spec boxtsters. More fun to watch too!

^^^up until recently these cars were all actively raced, the sheet metal has gotten a little precious and with 06/07 cups now more affordable and the spec box providing a competitive environs I'm thinking these will slowly but surely become track day garage queens....

(but I still want one...)

Mine retired from active duty 3 years ago when i built the 944. I still do a DE here and there so I'll pull it out twice a year. I look back at the years i raced it and am amazed that it survived without so much as a nick....but then again i was very "conservative' while racing it, in other words a big *****...i am looking at 996 cups this winter...some are too cheap to ignore.

We have a USA cup that comes out only a couple times a year. Agreed with sentiments above, likely for sale in 2012.

I just wonder if it will be worth more as an H class killer/DE machine or with all the race goodies taken out and replaced back to car show/ street duty?
