The last turn before the final straight is a crappy setup. Drivers are in the dirt trying to keep a steady line...Are cars going to be able to pass on this track?!

Now getting on with the race at hand, Practice starts in just a handful of hours. The Koreans are NOT HAPPY with the way the track has been dealt with and if the tarmac breaks up, it could be a disaster of a weekend. Regardless, it will be an "interesting" race weekend to say the least:

Rumor has it that the Dear Leader of the North, Kim Jong Il, a master of assembling crowds, has offered to fill the grandstands for the race ... No word on whether Bernie retuned his call.
Interesting article earlier in his thread, didn't know that Tilke not only designed the track, but was financially involved in the paving.

Looked like a skating rink! From the BBC feed:
"Hamilton sets the fastest time(1:40.887) with Kubica (1:40.968) moving up to second right at the very end. Rosberg (1:41.152) was third with Vettel (1:41.371) fourth. "

Despite spending much of his session in the garage, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton led the way as Korea enjoyed its first taste of Formula 1 on Friday morning. Behind the 2008 World Champion, three other teams filled the next trio of places courtesy of Robert Kubica’s Renault, Nico Rosberg’s Mercedes and Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull.
Despite spending much of his session in the garage, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton led the way as Korea enjoyed its first taste of Formula 1 on Friday morning. Behind the 2008 World Champion, three other teams filled the next trio of places courtesy of Robert Kubica’s Renault, Nico Rosberg’s Mercedes and Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull.
Although the track may have been scarcely finished when the F1 community began to arrive on Wednesday, it was a delighted local crowd which witnessed the fast and furious world of motorsport for the first time as the 90-minute period began at 10 am local time, with ambient temperatures of 21°C (70°F) making for comfortable viewing.
Heikki Kovalainen was the first car out for Lotus, with former team-mate Hamilton’s McLaren fourth on the road However, the Englishman would spend much of the session rooted to the pit lane as the Woking-based team carried out several modifications to his rear wing-stalling f-duct device; this was evidently no distraction, as Lewis duly moved ahead of his rivals after posting only the 19th and 16th best times on his first two runs with just under ten minutes to go.
As always with a brand-new venue, discretion was the better part of valour in the opening hour, with the 24-car field getting to grips with the five and a half-kilometre, anti-clockwise configuration. A number of cars ran wide, kicking up much dust off-line in the process, with notable names being Jenson Button, Robert Kubica and the two Ferrari drivers.
Suzuka star Kamui Kobayashi suffered a scare by running onto the dirt upon entering the pit lane, although there was a larger moment at the final corner for Sebastian Vettel as – when following Sakon Yamamoto through the long, right-handed Turn 17 and into the flat-out, left-handed kink of 18 – the German came close to running into the back of the Hispania.
Another HRT in the mix was Bruno Senna, setting the unenviable fact of deploying Korea’s first yellow flags due to a left-rear suspension failure which pitched the car into a high-speed spin at the fastest part of the circuit; thankfully, the Brazilian did not come into contact with the tyre barriers at Turn 7.
With Hamilton on top, late laps by Kubica, Rosberg and Vettel – started just seconds before the chequered flag flew – bumped Button to fifth and out of a McLaren 1-2.
Michael Schumacher ensured two Mercedes works cars in the top six ahead of championship leader Mark Webber’s Red Bull, Nick Heidfeld’s Sauber and the two Williams cars of Nico Hülkenberg and Rubens Barrichello, which had led the way with just over ten minutes remaining.

It doesn't matter anyways. This track situation has Sato written all over it. He is the master of driving on black ice on the edge of control. I could see a podium for him in this race.
