Spec Boxster build cost?
Does anyone have a price sheet for the expected parts cost to build a Spec Boxster(DIY)? Also, what wear items should be replaced and what's their cost? Thinking of building a Spec Boxster, but trying to see if it's financially feasible first.
Thanks,
Greg.

you need to be a LOT more specific.
what shape is your car in?
you plan to win?
you doing work yourself?
you care about how the car looks.
anywhere from $10k to $35k
jupeman, dell, and i have/had very nice builds and is at the $$$ scale of things.
i have also seen some home jobs that are just as fast. so all depends on how handy you are, what you want and how much time you have. my car took 3 weeks to do from day one to race ready. so i paid to have it done quickly as well.

If just bolting on all the mod parts allowed to a solid car, the parts alone (including a good welded in cage) will run between 15K and 20K depending on your cage builder. I posted a pretty complete list last year compiled from the Brad Robert's site and other sources. The labor to install all these parts is substantial.

Greg,
Here is one that I found a few years ago when I was contemplating. I am almost certain that it is a build sheet from someone here on Rennlist, but I didn't retain that info. I have the actual .xls file if you want it (PM me).

what do you think about 996 gt3 instead of a boxster? that is quite a different car and imho way more fun. i think i saw some in low $40K a month ago.
it`s just easier to start with a proper GT3 than to try to push stock boxster to gt3 level suspension wise, etc.

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far. I don't have a boxster yet, so condition is unknown. Yes I plan to win. All of the work will be done myself, except for possibly the cage. I'm mainly just looking for part prices to save some time.
As sick as it sounds, I'd rather build than buy... yes I know.
996 GT3 is a fast DE car, spec boxster is a race car, so there's really no comparison. I'm only looking for a race car, I've already won my DE championship.
Thanks,
Greg.
EDIT-Gary R., I searched your posts for "boxster" and couldn't find the list, any tips of what word it might be under? Was it on RL or the now closed down spec boxster forum?

It cost me a good chunk more to have my Spec boxster built up. I love the dang thing like nobody's business. fun, pretty dang fast, and dialed in.
i just wanted something super nice and highly competitive.
when you start with stuff like data acquisition or fire bottle systems, and suspension, you can rack it up pretty quickly.
Mine was built by Rick Deman. i asked him to pop in here and give his few cents. i think he even has an F class and E class build ready to roll.
Good luck and enjoy!>...

I'm the same way, but I will do 99% of all the work myself. If I was paying labor I wouldn't build.
Absolutely, Apples and Oranges
One spot I found it was on Pelican. The list was derived from a combination of sources, the main one being the "Kit" Brad Roberts sold for about $14K. I added to that, will bring it up closer to $20K..

Whoa..!! Hold on there young fellas..!!
First, lets clarify just what a "spec" Boxster is before we get way to far into discussing the costs as they varry significantly...
First, a true "Spec" Boxster is built on the 97-99 2.5L Boxster that can be had for 5-12K depending and then they are built using very specific parts designated by "spec" box rules...
When it comes to PCA spec F class cars we start with a 2003-04 Boxster S that run from 18-25K then they are built with a parts list that is far greater than a "spec" car including things like factory hardtop, Moton shocks and a whole host of other parts...
A true spec car, built the way I would do it would cost between $40-50K complete...
I would say look at some of the ones for sale, but look very carefully, not all spec cars are built the same...and they are only as good as the base car was and the person who put it together...
Good luck..!!
