Why didn't Kubica leave enough room for Alonso to stay on the track? I believe because if he did, he would easily be passed... so it's easier to squeeze Alonso out and hope for the penalty. That is why I believe the penalty is unfair, Alonso had no choice...
The second point, is that Kubica in an interview(on BBC), stated that the race director told both teams that Alonso needs to give the position back. However, Kubica's cars broke, so the argument is irrelevant. To then CHANGE the penalty to a drive through is where it becomes VERY unfair in my mind. Kubica's car broke, so give Alonso a warning and let the boys race.
I don't need to be right or wrong, just an opinion. Besides, A. Wayne has already decided I no nothing about F1!

Interestingly, at the 1 hour 11 minute mark (lap 28) on my DVR there was a car that passed the safety car (in exactly the same manner as Hamilton last week).
No penalty.......

Kudos to Webber, Hamilton, and Rosberg for a great race.
Unfortunately, yet another boring race with no passing.....

What a heart breaker for Alonso. Arguably the best, maturity was one of his strong suits, unfortunately he seems to have lost his cool. Worst possible decision against Kubica. Weber, Hammy and Roseberg
ran a great race and Button's ability to take care of his car keeps paying massive dividends. Can someone tell me WTF is going on with Massa!

If you took notice, when Vettel drafted and went to overtake Schumacher, Michael pulled the same crowding move that Webber did in Turkey. This time Vettel stayed on his line and made the pass.

I don't think it's up to Horner. They hinted today that the decision on the nose change came from Austria.

Regardless if you like him or not, the penalty to Alonso was harsh and unfair.
Perhaps they expected Alonso to stop and wait for Kubica to come around the corner... give me a break, let them race.
Poor precedant the FIA is setting...If somebody is trying to pass, just force them off the track, and let them go around you... then a few laps later the threat will dissapear in a penalty.
If that was Hamilton instead of Alonso, Mansell would have given Kubica a penalty for trying to race a Brit.

The penalty would/should be that Alonso needs to give the position back, but Kubica's car broke before he was told and/or before Alonso had the oppourtunity to let Kubica take the position back.
What I strongly dissagree with is that when Kubica's car broke, they (Nigel) changed the penalty according to the race position at the time of the decision. They changed the penalty after they saw that Kubica's car broke. That to me is unfair, and I believe should be investigated to ensure that precedant is set for future situations like this one...

Do you deny that?
How many race engineers does Ferrari have on the wall watching the same feed? Did LMS and Ferrai really think he would skate on such a cut and dry violation?
After Kubica retired the stewards hands are tied. They can't let it go unpunished and a drive through is the most logical penalty. After listening to him whine on the radio one week ago demanding a penalty for McLaren (for a much less clear violation) it's difficult to feel sorry for him.
