Crazy. I drove up there on my BMW R1200GS motorcycle last summer and I'm looking at the yaw marks on the paved part of the course and was thinking about how out of their minds those drivers are. (the section to the summit - after the finish line up to 14,110 - definitely gets some more adrenaline flowing.)

that was awesome! thanks for posting. I could listen to a cup car shifting for hours!
anyway, pretty funny when the surface went from tarmac to dirt or dirty tarmac. that car was a handful and handled well!

I was just on the phone with Gayle Brock (wife of Peter) who was filling me in on Zwart's driving this week. The Brocks were at Pike's Peak all week following his car. Peter is apparently writing an article about it for Excellence. Apparently he took about 30 seconds off the prior class record!
Gayle took this cool pic:

I would not drive my cup car after the pavement ended, he's really fast there!

Very cool, now I know what it will be like to drive my cup on public roads. I wonder what tires he used, maybe that's why he was not so fast on the pavement?

I read they were Pirelli rain tires from grand am. I wondered myself when he took off and went into the first corner with cold tires.

Very cool, thanks. Does the GT3 tranny do the blip on the downshift for you?

Yep, previous record was a 12:09 set last year by Rhys Millen in his Hyundai Genesis Drift car (Formula D). Great video of it here:

Here's the GT3 video on Vimeo if you want to watch it there instead of youtube.

I've been wanting to do Pikes Peak in my Nissan for a couple years now. Shooting for 2 years from now.
