Thinking about racing NASA events.......

Great organization, i've raced NASA for years....dare i say it...i've seen more incidents at PCA races than I have at NASA races...The drivers skill levels are definitely "different"...in a good way!

my "F" class boxster runs in NASA GTS3 class. its purely based on horsepower to weight. in the GTS3 class there are F, G, and H class porsches. Paolo, I would try and get your car in GTS2 to be competitive as GTS3 has some very fast BMW's and Porsches for sure!

Paolo, don't hesitate to sign up for NASA event. As others have said, the atmosphere and on-track behavior standards are set by the local region to a large extent. Both NASA NE and MA are terrific to run with. I raced with NASA MA for three full seasons, and really enjoyed it. Only gave it up because I could no longer afford the time to run the full calendar of races for the series championship.
Someone also mentioned EMRA, which is another great group. They also run open-wheel groups. I've drooled over a few gorgeous F5000 cars between races in the EMRA paddock at WGI.

Do most of my racing with NASA NorCal - great bunch, good competition and reasonably organized. Only draw back is they are popular and rungroups can be large with a big mix of car capabilities. (Example is Group A can consist of Honda Challenge (h1-h4), Performance Touring,Spec E30, 944Spec and has also had Legends and Thunder Roadsters and GTS in it). When the PRC (Porsche Racing Challenge) are present we run with them, otherwise we go in Group A.

Please use proper fasteners/mounting when adding (lead) ballast to a car.
I've seen some less than optimal mounting with respect to retention/safety clips and surface area.
On the other side, I've seen tungsten bars used in place of lead which worked out very well, again with proper mounting/hardware.
Large objects moving around the car can cause problems, not to mention being deposited on track...

I think you will like NASA. Fun, low key and down to earth people, at least here in the SE.
We have 3, 6 and 8 hr enduros. Lots of track time. I don't think your car will be a GTS2. More like GTS3.
Weight/HP makes things easily manageable. Most mods are 'Free'.
I was going to do my first enduro on Friday but I zinged my transmission at a HSR event in Savannah this past weekend.

What he said. You would run GTS2, but get a dyno run done on a dynojet. I am just finishing development on my GTS3 car and the M3s are fast in the group. NE and Midatlantic are great events with a good amount of GTS cars.

You also don't need to run in GTS to run in NASA. You can also run in Performance Touring (PT) or is more faster cousin ST (Super Touring). Running ST is very much like GTS, but with a few more rules and non german cars.
PT looks like a complex rule set and it does take some time to read and understand, but every car ever made with just about any mods will fit in PT or ST. So that is another place to run as well. My rough guess is you will be PTB or at most PTA. If you heavy end of GTS3 and too light ofr GTS2 then count up the PT points and you may find yourself classed better.

Get the spreadsheet I linked to and put the numbers in. It all goes back to weight, at 2350 (min) you are in GTS3 until you get to 3075, at which point you (just) make GTS2 (those weights are WITH driver, same as PCA).
