So if I understand the rules right, Ferrari and McLaren now have the ability to adjust set-up while the top 10 cannot make changes. Depending on the forecast, this could be an issue for Redbull and Mercedes.

I would expect the McLaren's and Ferrari's to be either out by the first corner, or all of them behind Schumacher by the end of lap 3.

Still the McLaren's will do very well this race... They have the best car in passing conditions. I would not be surprised by ONE Redbull winning, one Redbull out, with Hamilton and Button in 2nd and 3rd. Schumacher will do well, but not podium, and one Ferrari will fill in somewhere between 5 - 10 with the other out. Those are some safe predictions...

If it is wet, do the top 10 need to start on the wets they used in Qualifying?

With a partially drying track, and with the predicted on-again/off-again rain, the McLarens and Ferraris could have a huge advantage not using up thier wets in qualifying. The teams are limited to 3 sets of wets.

Could be a FAIL for the FIA if all wets get used up in the top teams... ugly...

No. The way I understand it, once your car goes out on track for any qualifying session, the car is considered in parc ferme conditions. If you saw qualifying, the Virgin team was making major changes to their car before Q1 and almost didn't get out. I presume they were changing to softer springs, higher ride heights etc. for the anticipation of heavy rain both in qualy and race conditions. Matchett confirmed this during the broadcast.

IIRC, You can go out on dry tires at the start of the race, if you qualified on wets.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Case in point, the Malaysian GP last year started later in the day to accomidate those in European TV viewing. Result, typhoon type weather resulting in a race stopped well short of the end and only 1/2 the points awarded.

The same thing is set to happen again this year. If it rains EVERYDAY late in the afternoon, why start the race at that time and risk a red flag shorted race? It makes absolutely no sense, but that's Bernie.

What the heck?!! with rain who knows...
Webber will crash, Rosberg skid off, vettel's car breaks again, sutil & huckenberg too slow & gets lost their ways around the circuit. That leaves these three to podium finishes... maybe Alonso can do that thing again, coming from behind...

Well aren't you the King of taking things out of context. Here's back at you.

If your A.D.D. allows, try reading a little further and you will see that I was talking about Rosberg's lack of race pace consistency. I NEVER said that he wasn't fast. So far this year he's around 5th in qualifying and 5th place in both races. That shows better than previous years where he would start up in the grid, only to fall back, sometimes out of the points for no apparent reason.

Oh man! I can't wait to see Alonso and Hamilton nose to tail as they pick off the competitors in front of them one by one.

Please, someone, rain or sprinklers at each and every F1 rac3e

I love watching swamp buggy races. I find them to be hilarious.

Like how F1 chose Bahrain to start the season. Possibly the hottest temps the teams will see and they throw the new cars into the frying pan so the teams have to compromise for the bestest cooling in simulation/guesstimation.

wayne - are you sure you're not a congressman? i have never seen anybody who spends sooooo much energy advancing his own causes - good on you for that

ferrari and hammy got greedy and tried to get it perfect instead of doing the hard work. that's going to make for a great race. i stayed up last night to watch it and was going nuts.

no predictions from me. absolutely anything can happen. if i was a rookie, i'd put some flippers in the cockpit for the trip back to the pits after going off.
