All that matters is you set them according to side wall. Different sized tires need different pressures as you can see on a trailer tire spec page for Tire Rack.

This is what makes this topic so confusing. If you follow the link above ( from CT03911) for the goodyear marathon tire and go to the service bulletin at the bottom - it tells you to follow the pressure set by the trailer manufacturer. It never says anything about the sidewall other than if you're going over 65 to inflate your tires to 10 PSi OVER the max....It should be such a simple concept, but tons of conflicting info!!!

my tire stated 50 psi max.

I went with 47 and 48.. felt good all the way to vegas!
