My condolences to the family. A very sad day. RIP

My heart goes out to the event staff, I can't imagine what they are feeling after loosing a friend. I have worked with this group as a visiting instructor, very nice group of people, very organized.

Our lives are so much more fragile than we suppose.
Prayers and condolences for the family and for all concerned.
None of us would be able to pursue this hobby without the benefit of instructors.

My condolences to the friends and family of all involved. I have seen these terrifying spins and crashes in person. My wife also instructs and this situation is always in the back of my mind.

RIP to the instructor.

I feel for the student as well as we had this happen on one of our cars in the past where a stock hose clamp let go at a turn. Thankfully no one was hurt, just a few spins into some generous run off area.

I am hoping Coco from Hurricane region contacted one of us at Carolinas for permission to disperse the info.

Anyway, just heard from our Carolinas Region President and the following statement is approved by national and was sent out to Carolinas region members on 8 March 2010.

As you may have heard by now, there was an incident during our Driver’s Ed event yesterday at Carolina Motorsports Park that resulted in a fatality. The vehicle in which Tom Norby was instructing went off track and impacted a tree. Fire/Rescue and EMT responded immediately, however Tom died of his injuries at the scene.

Tom was a Carolinas Region PCA member and served as a Driver's Ed Instructor, having completed the PCA National Driver's Education Instructor training. He was 59.

This is a difficult time for everyone, especially Tom’s family. Please keep Tom's wife Paula and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

A visitation with the family will be held in Charlotte, NC at Harry and Bryant Co., 500 Providence Rd., on Wednesday, March 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, 1000 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC, on Thursday, March 11, at 4:30 p.m.

I should have added that time is relatively short.
Coco informs us that "visitation" Wednesday (tomorrow) with the memorial service to follow on Thursday. Coco also provides a link to the details of these arrangements as well a route to directly express condolences to the TN family.
