Folks,
I know these threads are difficult to deal with.
If you all don't mind, out of respect for the family and individuals involved, I would respectfully ask that there be no further analysis or speculation into the event discussed as part of this thread. I think heartfelt condolences are far more appropriate.
If you would like to discuss safety, please feel free to open another thread.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any comments or concerns.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

This news literally puts a lump in my throat. Any news like this is tragic, but when you know the person it makes it that much harder. I think we all know the risk of this sport whenever we go out on track, whether in the right or left seat, but this news really puts it in perspective. RIP. My prayers will go out to him and his family.

Very sorry to read about this, Dell - my condolences to the instructor's family as well as to you, his friends, and especially the student.
This is particularly sobering as, not only am I an instructor, but my 2nd-born son (now 18) will do his 1st track day in May. We'll do it safely, but life can have its nasty surprises.
