Default Who makes...idiot laptimer?

Gents,

Who makes the most basic idiot laptimer and lap counter where all I have to do is wire it into the car power system, uses no beacon, and can be read at a glance? I need lap counting and laptime and if it told me how much my last lap was faster or slower than the one before that would be a luxury. Cheap always a benefit.

Thanks!

Good question. I know of no such device except an iphone with one of those apps. Does G-Tech have anything?

Many of us use GPS data loggers but then you're at $1,000 minimum.

Cheap and no beacon dont go together. If you don't want a beacon your going to have to get a GPS one. I have an XT Racing one and it works great but it has a beacon. Really easy to use and has lots of function if I wanted it. It also works with most beacon types so you dont always have to put yours out.

I believe the TraQr from Max Q Data fits your requirements and it's under $300.

Harry's GPS Lap Timer is like $20 on iTunes. But you need an iPhone or iTouch w/ GPS to use it.

Gary, does the TraQr from MaxQData have a display? I guess you could hook it up to a Windows Mobile hand-held mounted where the driver can see it.

I'm ^+1 on the XT Racing UltraLap timer. Yes, it needs a beacon.......but it can use any AiM beacon, so chances are you won't have to set yours up. Good price, great functionality, rock solid reliability.

I had an XT Ultralap, only had to use the transmitter (beacon) once or twice because the XT is compatible with the AIM beacon and everytime I go to the track someone already has their beacon in place. It runs on batteries, not hardwired to car, they last a long time though.

Used beacon based times pop up for sale used from time to time. Guys that move up to GPS sell off their aim/ based units.

$20 stop watch stuck to the steering wheel works too. Just start stop at the same (safe) place

EDIT See above ^^^^^ we posted at the same time.

Not a clue Tony, but I used the one with a Dell PDA (Called the Quantum DOT now was named something different then and only 5hz) a few years ago and it actually worked quite well.

Displays real time satellite speed anytime its on too. Easy to read display. Mounted above the left A/C vent with a little bracket.

FWIW...

Aren't you the guy who's building a 355 for the track?
