new to p-car racing, existing car is 964 cab (turbo look).
have some interest in this car
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330402177465
was on e-bay last wk. - i did not exceed my bid limit of $20k and car was reportedly sold for $22k (was an unreserved auction).
it has been almost immediately relisted so either seller "bought it" or failed sale. now offered on reserved bid basis.
-rsr clone built around a 88 C2
-not a lot done to the engine, so i assume not enough power to be worthwhile on the track????
-lot went into weight reduction/ suspension....views on setup????
my intent, street license it and use it as "ratrod", begin to learn to race, then if that takes, power add as needed.

if you're going to be actually racing it, first big thing is whether or not the car qualifies in the class you want to race in. so go over your rulebook and make sure that everything listed there is class legal. otherwise yer gonna be buying a prepped car and having to spend time and money de-prepping it

If I have learned one thing is that, there are track cars and then there are race cars. Then there are good, legal, fast race cars and then theres the rest of the race cars.
As mentioned by Yuliang, study the rule book, study the car and make sure its built with the right components and to the rule book. Also, think of the condition of the components.
I have found that whilst it is always cheaper to buy someone elses race car, if its the wrong car, it becomes much more expensive quickly. If I were you, I would find the group you want to race with/on and try to buy a consistently good car (or podium car if possible) if not, go scratch built.
Oh yeah, the all important budget too. Figure your budget and leave yourself a nice breathing margin... They can get expensive quickly.
Just in case, I don't know that car in particular.

If you plan to race whatever car you buy, buy a car with a current logbook from the sanctioning body you plan to race with.
This particular car may be great and it may be a disaster when you try to get it through tech inspection. If it does not pass it could cost you a small fortune to undo-redo all the problems.
Do your due-diligence.

I have a race car for sale also and mine comes with water. Forget about those silly 911's. All that extra oil just adds weight.
