Auto-start Aiptek camera with traqmate?
Ok, one of the smart guys here ought to be able to figure out how to wire this think to a traqmate so that when you start the traqmate, it sends a signal to this thing to start the Aiptek camera recording.

I'll bet it can be done...
Maybe by tapping into the signal that comes out of this:

Or this with it's own remote control, it's a great setup that I use on a few of our cars.

Point well taken Viking, but I'm looking for a way to make these cheap (~$100) HD cameras start when you start your traqmate rather than spend $600 for a lower resolution camera.

I've been meaning to install a start/stop switch on the dash but haven't gotten around to taking the camera apart and wiring it up. It's just a contact switch. Should be easy enough to extend that out of the camera with wires.

Wiring an external Record start/stop is the easy bit.
The real challenge is an external state line for Recording/Not recording. At the very least you'd want a LED or similar indication of the current state of the camera. This is for manual operation, of course.
To control the camera with a logger requires a simple state machine that monitors the camera state [recording/not recording], and switches record on at the start of a session and off at the end.
Racepak have a couple of VNet modules that do exactly that for the ChaseCam and one of the Stable Images cameras. The challenge with the Aiptek is finding a reliable state signal that can be externalized without hurting the camera's operation.
