They're cleared as soon as they reach an age where code browns only happen inside the car. Until then, you can't tell if they're really just pushing themselves or pushing something else.

Hahaha, & people say I'M too young. I started tracking this year with the 996 (I'm 19 now) & I was racing in SCORE Baja series at around 13, with sponsorship from Duncan Racing... But damn, your kid beat me.
Cute kid btw.

Traditionally, age 5 (50cc KidKart class).
However, in Europe, they have developed (not sure if they were ever homologated) even smaller chassis for kids 3-4 yrs old with restricted 50cc engines...think 'walking speed'.

chris i bought my son a quad when he was 2 yrs old and he was driving on his own by 3, i also would drive him around. Now at age 5 Santa is bringing him a kid kart with a 50cc engine.
Just added tidbits on my son, he has been going to the track since his is 3, he wakes up every morning and goes right to the pc and plays rfactor he watches all types of racing most of the time, so i may be in trouble!!! And he can do what he wants but i did tell him school is first and if he does not have good grades no racing(figure i should start beating that to death now!)>
