Pepboys Great Neck cordless impact wrench Black Friday deal
Pepboys is supposedly selling the Great Neck impact wrench for $50 after $20 mail in rebate on Black Friday.

I don't know anything about the quality, but I would think it is about the same as the Goodyear brand impact wrench they used to sell which is decent for the money. I don't think you can go too wrong on this one even as an extra to keep around.

made in china stuff = crap...except bootleg dvd's
and i can say that cause i'm chinese heh. only things i buy made in china are things i wouldn't mind tossing in the garbage after a month...or things that don't have movable parts...like hammers and drill bits. i'd buy those at harborfreight.

Does anyone else hate mail in rebates? If you're going to have a sale, just give me the damn sale price in the store so I don't have to jump through hoops to get my money back! I will never buy anything with a MIR.
Yeah, yeah, I know all about it being a "mfg." discount, not the "retailers" discount. I'm sure the geniuses sitting in their corporate offices could work that out to the customer's benefit.

there's a real simple explanation why corp ppl like doing MIR. cause there's only like a 40% chance of the buyer actually mailing it in.
so u generate all these sales numbers without having to pay all of the MIR's. it's crooked and it sucks....but it's life.

Don't know anything about Great Neck impact wrench quality. But I bought the Goodyear branded impact wrench from Pepboys a couple of years ago for $70 or so and it's still going strong on the original battery. And I use it a lot at the track and at home in the garage. But it's no skin off my nose either way. I just saw it and thought I'd pass it along.

I've purchased a 24V Great Neck Impact Wrench this year and I think it's fine. I do have a few minor issues with it:
1) The battery life doesn't seem great. I use it to remove tires and then lightly tighten the nut. I don't think 1 battery will last a full race weekend. After about 2 race days (8-12 tires), it's getting a little weak. But I bought a 2nd battery so that's not hasn't been a huge problem.
2) The recharger is generic. When you insert the battery the Green/Red LEDs are covered by the battery. To see the LEDs, you need to look from the side and look between the battery and recharger.
3) The socket is held on with a standard spring loaded ball that you'd find on most manual ratchets. I've seen Milwaukee Impact Wrenches that use a pin instead of the ball. I now know why the pin is better: frequently the socket sticks onto the lugnut and the socket falls off of the impact wrench.
When I bought the Great Neck product, I didn't want to spend $300 or more for a Milwaukee. I figured if the Great Neck cost me $100 and it lasted 3-4 years before I threw it away, that would be fine. Overall, I've been happy with the unit.

I wound up getting this...$20 rebate at store and $20 mail in rebate. For $40 seems to be a good deal. We'll see in the long run. Also noted the spare battery cost $40!

Pep Boys has had some great mail in rebates. I bought a Michellin shop compressor that is totally awesome for about $200 and got a $120 mail in rebate.
