Default Forgeline RS Competition Wheels

All,

I am looking for a 17" Forgeline RS Competition wheel that is 9 1/2" wide to replace a wheel that has started leaking. Here is a picture of the wheels (note I still need to figure out the offset but I know that I use spacers on my 964 to make them fit without rubbing). TIA! Conversely, I guess I could sell the 3 good ones.

Where is the leak coming from? Interesting that is is leaking since the RS is a 2 piece wheel, not 3. The barrel is 1 piece welded to the center. We bent one up and had a shop in LA replace the barrel with a new one..

You can see where I marked the leak in this shot, which is at a seam.

I know a guy that has 6 of these that he is selling as a complete set. 2 each of 3 different widths so you can tailor your setup for different tracks. All 17", in very nice condition. Offsets perfect for late 944/951 suspension. PM me for his contact info if interested.

^+1, Forgeline doesn't sell these anymore, but I'm reasonably certain they could/would still fix the leaking one. They are good folks and very fair.

I had these and they were real problems . there were cracking and leaking that were supposed to be due to not being "stressed relieved". whatever, they did fix them for me, but I had a full set where all of them failed eventually before sending them back, one by one. It was right on the weld bead on the inside of the center where it meets the barrel. the new stuff doesnt have this kind of issue.

I have two sets of these for a 993. 8s and 9s. x 17s. The rears have slowly starting leaking. They leak at the welds from stress. I had new barrels welded on and they leaked again after a year or so. No warping or cracks but little pin hole leaks where the welds are. Three piece wheels have silicone over the halfs so you could probably just silicone over the welds that penitrate all the way through and get them to hold. Don't think its a major structural problem.

Im willing to sell all 8 for cheap if anybody wants to give them a try. Offsets not much different than 964 but will bolt right up to a 993.

Let me know.

Ill be at Hallett for a club race in a couple weeks if anybody wants them, let me know and Ill throw them in the trailer.

They changed a production process about 1999 -2000 or so. It seemed to fix them.

I did call Forgeline and since the RS Competitions have been discontinued for a while they do not support/fix them but they would give me a nice break on a new set if I sent all four back.

That makes sense. I think mine were purchased around 2001 by the previous owner.
