Default Racing Seats Opinions

I have recently decided to set up our '85 911 for DE. I want to put seats in the car, but it is important that the car remain easily accessible for street use. My wife and I enjoy doing rallies and taking drives in it, so they can't be to crazy to get in and out of. Does anyone have any suggestions they might suggest that they like and their wives tolerate? Thanks - Jay

Yeah, I thought of those too. Thanks! How much do those run used and new?

Anyone have luck with anything else?

Retail on the Pole Positions is 829. The do appear occasionally in the used market but as they are very popular they don't seem to ever last very long.

Others of the same level is the Racetech RT 4009.

You can't go wrong with either.

With slow retail sales for things like seats if you do some shopping you might be able to find a seat with a 2008 date for a slightly better price. While most of the stuff has been cleared out of the warehouses some are still hiding out there.

I have Sparco Evo 2's in my car. Now called the Evo L. Very comfy. Easy to get in and out of, mostly due to lower thigh bolsters. Kinda wish I had more thigh support now that I race more. For DE and street driving they are perfect.

If you don't plan on actually racing the car and just doing DE's, the Recaro Speed seats are nice. They recline but have the shoulder and sub slots to accommodate a 5- or 6-point racing belt. Obviously the fixed back seats with FIA approval will offer the most safety (and are usually required for competitive racing), but the Speeds are a happy medium for street/track use. Corbeau is also an alternative for reclinable seats. They can wear out quicker than the Recaros but can cost much less. Their reclining mechs are well made and we have successfully had DE customers use Corbeau - biggest bang for the buck IMO.

I snagged a Pole Position in excellent shape (one very, very minor 1/4" tear in the fabric on the side) on Ebay for $400 and felt lucky to get it for that little. IIRC, I offered the seller a Buy-It-Now, and she took it.

I had Recaro SRD seats in my 1984 dual use car and liked them a lot; don't recall the $ (or whether they are still made).

Hi Jay,
Have you ever been to the HMS showroom in Danvers? They have about 12 seats (Recaro and Cobra IIRC) that you can test your *** in. Nice people too!

Jay,

I have Momo Cups in mine (Not sure if they still make them or not). They are a fixed back shell. THe only think to keep in mind with this type of seat is that it makes the use of the back seat nearly impossible, especially with a rollbar. A couple of my friends have the SRDs and those seem to be the best compromise.

As Dave said, HMS is worth a Sat am drive to "Test" fit some seats.

Good luck.

I also like the evo2s. I had them on my daily and drove with them for at least 6 months before getting rid of the car. They were actually very surprisingly comfortable.
