WTB 996 wheel stud conversion
#31
I am considering a set of E88 wheels (rims ahead of center) and due to the thickness will need to convert to studs. Excuse my ignorance on the matter, but is the conversion as easy as it looks? Providing you have the correct stud lengths is all that is necessary is simply screwing the stud into the bolt hole on the hub?

Excuse my ignorance as well, but could someone please explain to me what is the difference between the stud and bolt, compared to the longer lug bolt? Is one safer than the other? I'm not seeing the advantage.

Three Wheelin'
Studs are much more convenient if you change your wheels a lot for track use. It makes it much easier if you don't have to hold the wheel up while you try to get the first stud started. The reason many people convert to studs is if they buy a set of wheels that require longer bolts / studs. In other words, it's a good time to do the conversion if you have to buy longer ones anyway.
