Bob, in all seriousness, I was so sorry to see what happened to your car in the Yellow sprint......

I hope you will be back racing soon......

There is enough open passing events like group 52 and Kajote to get race like driving w/o the DE slugs. Personally I'm going to drive more of these events and less Racing. Burned out on on racing. Maybe I just need a car change to get inspired again.

Well well well...is Charlie flaming you away from GTC1?

You guys in the Northeast do it all wrong. First of all, people down here instruct because they want to, not because they feel obligated....

But past that, what we did is say that red and black are "advanced drivers groups" regardless of you being an instructor or not. Then, we put the faster cars in Red, and the slower cars in Black. i.e if your a long time driver, racer or instructor in a GT3, chances are you are faster than the same person in a NA 944. So we split the groups up by car/ablity NOT by instructor/non-instructor. Makes for much more enjoyable driving all around - the slow cars aren't looking in their mirror all the time, and the fast cars are not getting frustrated all the time.

Yes, there are some exceptions all the time, but we work with them and move around accordingly.

Let's see... instructor in GT3 versus racer in a NA 944. That would certainly be a close battle!

Bob sorry to hear that Exclusive motors is closing; I purchased a red 2002 supercharged Carrera from you and the purchase experience was exceptional. Larry you are right it would be tough to stop instructing but in my case our home track is closing so I get to travel in anonymity I've also found it a real challenge to show up at a new track and trying to keep up with the locals...I have a new appreciation for the pros that do that for a living....

This thread is another classic example why very few instuctors even bother to post here anymore. I really have no question about the skill level difference that it takes to club race.

We all set our goals and priorities, I'm comfortable with my decision but explaining it here would be about like discussing the joys of christmas at a Koran reading. Some of you need to back away from the keyboard and get a freakin life!

Hi Alan
I am the originator of the thread (and an enthusiastic instructor).
I thought most of the posts were pretty thoughtful and found them helpful, including those by the racing community.
Seems like there are plenty of instructor-types on this board.
