That is what i heard and it is the reason why i believe the SP cars should be paired with a faster run group. The way it is at the moment, they will get bundled up with the slower cars of the Green group really quick. That could be prevented by having them run in the Blue group and send the E cars in Green.

FredC: Your idea just changes who runs into who. If you ran SP1-3 with FGH, the fast cars in FGH will start lapping the SP2 guys in a few laps.
If the fast cars in SP2/3 are faster than D then the SP2/3 group should start first.

So how does the split start work? It would seem that you can't really have a wave-off by the starter. Do they just black flag those who jump the start, or is that only in theory?

They had two pace cars at Mid Ohio but in Atlanta they were right behind the back of the main pack. The two pace cars works better IMO.

PS: Chris, did you spin in the 2nd Sprint Race at Mid-Ohio? If so, I was the red 944 Turbo that was right behind you.

They do it just like the pros. There are two pace cars, and they try to keep the two groups separated by 30 seconds or so. And yes, once the first group goes green the 2nd group is commited to go green.

Few laps is better than 1 and 1/2 lap. That's my point. I think the faster SP3 guys will run into A and B cars at T1 on lap 2. Sucks given that they are trying to have a race that counts for Cup IMHO. Anyway, i guess it is what it is, so on to racing!!!
