David Murry Track Days
Thought people should know about this:
For Immediate Release:
If you've been participating in "run group" formats at Drivers Education and Club events, and you're wondering what comes next.............we have a suggestion.
David Murry Track Days is a forum for experienced drivers to explore the limits of their skill and equipment at some of the most famous race tracks in the United States.
"As the 2009 track season gets underway, I'm pleased to announce the inaugural David Murry Track Days event at Virginia International Raceway this October 20-21. This event will be pure "open track" format, with participation limited to very experienced drivers, club racers and instructors. There will be no run groups, no students and very limited attendance. We'll offer approximately seven hours of open track each day. I will begin each event day with a dynamic, interactive classroom session, tailored specifically to the track that we're visiting. I will be on hand throughout the event to answer questions, offer advice, etc.".

14 hours of track time for $700 seems like a big number? That's $50/hour. To compare, Road Atlanta entry fee is $510 for the sprint and enduro, no test day. That's a little over 4 1/2 hours of track time or $111/hour. The david murry event is a STEAL!

That's really not bad for 2 days of open track. It all depends on what the number of drivers is capped at. Obviously this is just Q&A with D.M. but not driver coaching in the car which is a whole 'nother ball of wax in expenses.

Actually, it sounds like an outstanding deal. 14 hours of open track at an event hosted by a pro like Murry. Their website says that other pros "can be arranged". I wonder if they would be of Murry's caliber.

Agreed, if you actually drive that much. It seems, though, that participants at even open lapping days drive far less than the time allocated. 4 hours of actual track driving/day seems to be a more reasonable number regardless of how much track time is available. At least for me, four hours of actual hot laps in one day wears me out!
