Snap-On gun works. Longacre gun works. The Harbor Freight one worked for about a week in my experience.

I've been using a Dewalt for 3 years steady. While a compressor in the trailer can/will work, the cordless gun is just so much easier, I use it instead of the hassle of pulling out a heavy compressor, hooking everything up and then having to put it all away. I use my generator to recharge the batteries for radios, tools, etc (in addition to running lights and providing power for the computer, coffee pot and AC/Heat).

FWIW, Dewalt is manufactured by Black and Decker; more of a high-end consumer brand compared to Milwaukee.

Other considerations:

Lithium batteries hold a charge longer than NiMH and can be trickle charged w/o reducing battery life.

More power = more weight.

Snap on was ~$500 with the large LED "shop" flashlight, one battery, and a charger from my snap on guy. Extra battery was $90 IIRC.

Think Bosch is supposedly very nice cordless-wise.

And Lithium cells are not as temperature sensitive as Nimh cells.

I have a small Makita cordless impact.

Think all hte 18V and above will zip through wheel changes.

Honda + DeWalt = all the air I need, all the time. Tires, impact guns, air nozzles, whatever. Anything but air jacks. Probably overkill for most though.
